On February 12, 2026, detectives with the Acworth Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division received information from the Atlanta Police Department regarding an armed robbery that occurred in their jurisdiction on February 11, 2026. Flock Safety camera data indicated the suspect vehicle had been frequently observed traveling along Highway 92 in Cherokee County. This information was quickly distributed to surrounding law enforcement agencies and Acworth patrol officers.

During the investigation, Detective Camille began actively searching for the vehicle in the Acworth area and soon located the suspect vehicle, a 2007 blue Hyundai Santa Fe, parked at the Best Western hotel at 5155 Cowan Road. While detectives were gathering additional information from hotel staff, the vehicle was observed leaving the parking lot.

Officers in the area were immediately notified, and the vehicle was stopped on Cowan Road near South Main Street. Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop and safely detained the driver, later identified as Joshua Johnson (19 YOM from Marietta).

The suspect was transported to the Acworth Police Department, where he was interviewed by Atlanta Police Department detectives and subsequently arrested by the Atlanta Police Department.

The Acworth Police Department would like to highlight the effectiveness of modern technology and strong interagency cooperation. The use of Flock Safety cameras, combined with timely intelligence sharing between multiple agencies, played a critical role in the swift and safe apprehension of a dangerous suspect.
