On Thursday, January 01, 2026, at approximately 8:27a.m., Acworth Police Officers were dispatched to a medical emergency at Northstar Square Assisted Living Facility located at 3250 Quick Water Landing. Officers were informed that a resident of the facility was choking and turning blue. Staff members were actively performing CPR on the resident.
Officer Salone arrived on scene and was immediately directed to the patient. Officer Salone quickly deployed his department-issued LifeVac device. His quick response to deploying the device and effective use of it resulted in the obstructed item being successfully removed from the patient’s airway.
The individual was evaluated on scene by Cobb Fire and Metro EMS, and was transported to Kennestone Hospital for further evaluation.
The Acworth Police Department commends Officer Salone for his quick actions, which directly contributed to saving a life.
In 2024, the Acworth Police Department purchased LifeVac devices for every officer. This marks the third successful deployment of the device in the City of Acworth. The LifeVac Device is a portable airway clearance device designed to help remove an object when a person is choking. It uses a one-way valve system that creates suction to dislodge the obstruction without pushing it further into the airway. The device has been credited with saving thousands of lives throughout the United States. For more information about LifeVac, you can visit their website at www.livevac.net.
