The Operations Command oversees the core law enforcement functions of the Acworth Police Department, including the Uniform Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, and Special Operations Unit. As the largest command within the department, it is responsible for ensuring effective patrol coverage, thorough investigative follow-up, and specialized support services that enhance safety and security throughout the community.
The Operations Command is led by Captain Tom Elledge, who joined the Acworth Police Department in March 2025, bringing with him over three decades of distinguished law enforcement experience. Prior to this role, he served with the Cobb County Police Department, where he notably commanded both the Violent Incident and Planned Early Response (V.I.P.E.R.) Unit and the Special Operations (S.T.E.P.) Unit.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational management and leadership, complemented by an academic foundation in chemistry. He is also a graduate of the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (LEEDA) program, underscoring his dedication to professional growth and strategic leadership.
