On March 19th, 2024, K-9 Officer Trapani conducted a traffic stop on North Main Street, approaching the Bartow County line. During the course of the traffic stop, the driver, later identified as Christopher Lance Hammitt of Cedartown, fled on foot. Other Officers from the Acworth Police Department, along with Deputies from the Bartow County Sheriff’s Department responded and established a perimeter. Officer Trapani then deployed his partner, K-9 Robuck to begin tracking the suspect.
K-9 Robuck was able to track Mr. Hammitt outside a residence near McClain Drive where he was ultimately arrested and positively identified. It was discovered that Mr. Hammitt was wanted for the following offenses:
Trafficking Methamphetamine, Financial Transaction Card Fraud, Obstruction, Tampering with Evidence, Possession of Methamphetamine, Driving on a Suspended License, Tag Light Violation and Operation of an Unregistered Vehicle Mr. Hammitt was transported to the Cobb County Sheriff’s Department. Additional charges were taken for Hammitt’s arrest due to this incident.
