The Criminal Investigations Division plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the Acworth Police Department. Its primary focus is to investigate crimes occurring within the city limits of Acworth, manage and maintain all submitted evidence, and conduct internal investigations. The division works closely with other law enforcement agencies, as well as the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office, in preparing cases for trial.

The division is led by Lieutenant Brandon Greene, who has over 18 years of dedicated law enforcement experience, with the past 8 years proudly serving the Acworth Police Department. Throughout his tenure, he has held a variety of key roles, including Special Operations Officer, Patrol Supervisor, Special Operations Supervisor, and now Criminal Investigation Lieutenant.

Lieutenant Greene holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from Columbia Southern University and is deeply committed to leadership and professional development. He is a graduate of both the Guardian Leadership program and the City of Acworth Leadership Development Academy. Additionally, he is an active member of the FBI–Law Enforcement Executive Development Association. Driven by a passion for mentorship and continuous growth, Lieutenant Greene remains focused on building strong teams and advancing the mission of the Acworth Police Department through effective leadership and service.

Detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division regularly attend specialized training to expand their knowledge and expertise. They are highly capable of processing crime scenes, including latent print development, evidence collection, and crime scene photography. Detectives manage numerous cases, prioritizing them based on several factors such as solvability, the nature of the crime, and timeliness. Each case is worked diligently until it is successfully resolved.
