Acworth Officer Uses Life-Saving Device to Aid Choking Victim

On Thursday, January 01, 2026, at approximately 8:27a.m., Acworth Police Officers were dispatched to a medical emergency at Northstar Square Assisted Living Facility located at 3250 Quick Water Landing. Officers were informed that a resident of the facility was choking and turning blue. Staff members were actively performing CPR on the resident.

On November 19, 2025, officers with the Acworth Police Department responded to 3247 Blue Springs Trace in reference to a missing person report. On July 9, 2025, Officers with the Acworth Police Department responded to a report of fraud at
the police department. The owner of the Dairy Queen located on Cowan Road, reported fraudulent
activity carried out by two former partners and managers.

The suspects, identified as Sherif Mousa and Sherif Awad, who both served as managers, are
accused of diverting company funds and creating false payroll entries to personally profit from the
restaurant.

Between June 2024 and October 2024, the suspects redirected approximately $27,000 in Dairy
Queen earnings by using an unauthorized payment processing terminal linked to a bank […]

K-9 Officer Trapani conducted a traffic stop on North Main Street

On March 19th, 2024, K-9 Officer Trapani conducted a traffic stop on North Main Street, approaching the Bartow County line. During the course of the traffic stop, the driver, later identified as Christopher Lance Hammitt of Cedartown, fled on foot. Other Officers from the Acworth Police Department, along with Deputies from the Bartow County Sheriff’s Department responded and established a perimeter. Officer Trapani then deployed his partner, K-9 Robuck to begin tracking the suspect.

Elderly resident who was choking on food

On March 19, Officers with the Acworth Police Department responded to a 911 call at Brickmont of Acworth, an assisted living facility, regarding an elderly resident who was choking on food. Officer Severtson arrived on scene and found the elderly resident turning blue and not responding. Prior to her arrival, the staff of the facility attempted to use the Heimlich maneuver, but was unsuccessful. Officer Severtson utilized her personal “LifeVac”, a rescue suction device.
