The goal of the Criminal Investigations Division is to provide the citizens of Acworth with the most efficient investigative division possible. The Criminal Investigations Division has a number of responsibilities and is a vital part of the Acworth Police Department. The focus of this division is to investigate all crimes that occur within the city limits of Acworth. This division is also responsible for storing and maintaining all evidence submitted, as well as conducting internal investigations.
Members of this division regularly attend specialized training classes to further their knowledge. Each member of this division is capable of processing crime scenes which include latent print development, collection of evidence and photographing the crime scene. Each member of C.I.D. has numerous cases which are prioritized according to a number of aspects: solvability factors, nature of the crime and how recently the crime occurred. Each Detective is responsible for working each case as diligently as possible, until its successful completion. The Criminal Investigation Division works closely with other law enforcement agencies as well as the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office in preparing cases for trial.
